Information Session on the International Garden Exhibition IGA 2027
Under the banner “FUTURE.BLOOMS.”, IGA 2027 is setting out to drive the green transformation of the Ruhr area through sustainable urban development, international collaboration, and innovative ideas for liveable cities. The three main venues — Duisburg, Gelsenkirchen, and Dortmund — will each showcase their vision of the future through their so-called Future Gardens, forming the heart of the exhibition.
The IGA 2027 gGmbH invites the consular representatives of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to an information event on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Dortmund. The event will provide an in-depth look at the overall concept, core objectives, and current planning status of IGA 2027. A highlight of the day will be a guided tour of the Dortmund Future Garden, offering an opportunity to see firsthand both the progress made so far and the plans taking shape for this central exhibition site.
We would like to show how the country representations can participate in the International Garden Exhibition and what opportunities we can offer. This could include contributing an exhibit that highlights the country’s innovations, projects, or cultural aspects, or hosting a thematic event in 2027 on topics such as nature, the environment, or sustainable urban development. There will also be opportunities to present the country’s strategies and initiatives in the field of climate protection and adaptation as part of an international exchange. IGA 2027 offers numerous opportunities for creative and collaborative contributions, and we are very much looking forward to your ideas.
Beyond sharing information, the event is intended as a space for professional dialogue to explore opportunities for cooperation, exchange international perspectives, and consider the role of IGA 2027 as a platform for global discussion about the future.
We are delighted that Ms Silke Gorißen, Minister for Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, has already confirmed her attendance.
